I’ll always be thankful to my oldest brother who taught me how to ride a bike! There have been gaps in my cycling history but in my lifetime of 60+ years my two-wheeler was necessary to get to a friend’s house after school (2 miles one-way on a country gravel road!), transportation for a summer working in Jasper National Park, an “exercise friend” while healing from a stress fracture, a ready vehicle for jaunts and errands in the neighbourhood - and in the last 10 years for cycling with groups/tours of all sizes.
The most recent tour for my husband I was with a mix of friends we cycled with two summers ago (will post on that later). This time - twenty-four cyclists, a range of fitness, living in several Canadian provinces - met in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Camped and cycled two days, took a 5-hour ferry to Magdelan Islands (in the Gulf of St. Lawrence) where we cycled for 4 days and did the return trip, ending with a grand “last supper” close to our camping spot by Montague, Prince Edward.
