Nice temps today. Was 5-8C today. Snow granular and soft, not hard packed and icy. Yay!

Last night’s refuge had a big pot I could melt snow in. I then either boiled that melted snow for food and drinks or I filtered it for today’s drinking water.

No pot here so I needed to find something to hold the snow. Ziplock food bags to the rescue. Happy I had my coffee pot along so I could melt snow for filtered/boiled drinking water and eat and drink from my mug/cup at the same time, which was handy since I needed to eat supper!

View out the wood door of the refuge. The chopping block is sitting on ground level. The snow out there is taller than me.

I haven’t seen too many lean-tos or 3 sided shelters in Quebec. Reminds me of the Appalachian Trail.

Second skin doing it’s job and collecting black lint from my socks around the edges.

I did a fair amount of this today... where the trail was too steep for my liking I just took my skis off, walked down and clipped them back on when I felt confident in the slope. In doing this I learned how to clip in my boots without bending down (which hurt my right side). All the things I’m learning this trip!

Coming up on refuge Corbeau where I will have lunch and tea.

So much lovely trail out here.

The ski tracks are the only evidence of someone else being out here. Haven’t seen or heard a human since I left the trailhead yesterday.

Super happy to be out here even with my banged up nose.I changed the way I carry my big camera so I can’t fall on it again. You live and learn.

Also my pack is looking especially puffy today because my chest hurt too much this morning to really compress my pack.

I’ll be taking it cautious today on the hills.
