A Pile of New Features in Beta

Just in time for your upcoming summer adventures!

Over the last several months I have been working feverishly on a bunch of features that are not ready for prime-time yet, but are available to anyone who would like to try them out. These features are designed to make the journalling process easier while out in the field. There are already some users out on some adventures testing them out, but the more testers I can get, the better.

The features are (in no particular order)...

Post by Email

This feature allows you to post journal entries by email. This feature is particularly useful if you are journalling from a place that has little to no connectivity. You can create journal entries using your email program, queue them up, then when you get to civilization, hit the send button and have them all automatically post to your journal.

Post via Text Messaging (SMS)

If you are adventuring with a cell phone, you can post quick journal entries via text messaging. Send a note, a photo, or both, and have it automatically publish to your journal. This can be useful for quick updates, or situations where you have limited cell coverage and Internet connectivity is spotty to non-existent, or for those of you in remote places with only a satellite phone.

The cool thing about text messages is that all you usually need is one bar of connectivity to get out a message.

Spot GPS Location Tracking

If you have a Spot GPS tracker, you can have your spot GPS track automatically display on a journal map. The GPS track can be private, protected, or public.

If you decide to make your GPS track public, enhanced security and privacy features allow you to set a delay, so that the location shown on your map lags by several days (or weeks) before shown to the public. Your close friends and family can see the latest location, while the general public can see the delayed version. There is a lot of flexibility here to suit the level of privacy you are looking for.

Schedule Posts for the Future

If you would like a journal entry to post at a date in the future, you can do that with scheduled posts.

If you would like to try out any of these beta features, please contact us and let us know. We are happy to set you up!
