Out of the lake spills the headwaters of the Grand Riviere Swaggin, over this series of rocks as we see here. It is like a natural rocky dam that marks the start of the river. The trail at this point follows the river and is really quite pretty with lots of ponds, waterfalls, and rapids.

More views of the fringes of Lac Clair. The name (Clear Lake) makes me wonder what it's like in the actual lake portion of the waters. It's not particularly clear here...

The fringes of Lac Clair. Still no bugs, despite all the visual signals telling me this should be a major bug habitat. I could learn to appreciate the beauty of a boggy looking area if I didn't have to run through them all the time.

Another three-sided shelter. I really liked how they provided these shelters on the previous section I did. Not because I used them, but because they represent something you don't see a lot of in Quebec: something free. Everything in the Quebec outdoors seems to be pay-to-use, which is a major frustration of ours. The fact that I didn't get dinged for parking at the trailhead, that I didn't have to pay day-use fees, and that there are free three-sided shelters is amazing.

Unfortunately, that was the last one I saw. Everything after this point (on this section at least) are huts that you rent by the night. At least I didn't see any rules against setting up a tent, so at least there is still that...

One of the many small unnamed lakes and ponds that the trail weaves it's way around. All things considered, I was expecting a lot more bugs around here, but thankfully they either are mostly done here for the season, or I wasn't smelling bad enough yet to warrant much attention.

Early on in the trail we are wooed by a beautiful, well used path and fresh cut boards to protect our feet from the muck. Signs of a well loved trail and good things to come. Or is it...
