This photo could almost make it into the ski journals.
Hiking in November at Owl's Head Ski Hill in Mansonville, QC.
We packed our orange blazes before we set out for our day trip to the Eastern Townships. This time of year you need to plan hikes mindful of hunting season, and make sure that in multi-use woods (where it's safe to hike) you are well identified in orange.
We didn't need our orange blazes for hiking at Owl's Head but when we got to the top we realized snowshoes, or at least crazy carpets to get us down the snowy slopes would have been beneficial.
We attempted to hike a circuit, which would have taken us down ski slopes instead of the woods trail we hiked up. But the snow was too deep and we weren't well equipped in running shoes, so we cut across the mountain back to the trail we hiked up, essentially hiking an out and back.
