Snow falling on La Loutre, last bit of wood burning in stove as we leave at 12:15pm for our afternoon walk.

We didn’t know it at the time but snow would continue to fall the rest of the day and into the evening.

Starting the day by the fire, or course.

Stayed in bed till 9 am, luxurious! Had a slow morning of coffee, breakfast, chatting before setting out.



Supper time.

Drying boots.

My boots are the red ones and they are leather and I haven’t treated the leather recently.

The snow was very wet today. My boots got wet also. Stuffed with newsprint (found in cabin for fire lighting) and drying by fire. Hoping they will be dry by tomorrow.

This is a picnic table under the “kitchen sink” (product name) filled with clean snow for melting.

First Camp chores, making a fire (chopping some kindling first), melting snow for water.

We arrive at our cabin, refuge La Loutre (otter cabin) and the snow is built up so much around the walls (probably falling off the roof), we have to step down to get into the cabin.

So much snow! This is what I love about the winter woods. All the snow.

About 2 kms in and approximately 1/2 way to our destination.
