Starting the portage feeling rather jaunty. I also carried paddles and the guitar.
I didn’t last longer than 150 metres with these 2 bags. By the end of the portage @toesalad was carrying both these bags, they were approx. 18-20 lbs each, plus the canoe.
I ended the portage with the duffle bag, paddles and guitar.
This is the longest portage of the day and one of the 3 longest of the trip.
We were so grateful that where we exited the portage, 830 metres later, was a beautiful slab rock beach where we could enjoy a much needed swim, break and snack after our haul.
I’m in heaven at this site. I’ve always wanted campsites like this. I didn’t realize you had to canoe to get to them!
Seriously, for years I’ve wanted to camp at sites like this but you just can’t find them car camping or backpacking. We are the only people here. The scenery is amazing, the only neighbors are the loons.
