Our school in Bangkok takes off a week for "fall break" (no fall here in Thailand, not even close, but it's an American school so we call our break after the first quarter of school "fall break"). Our family drove the 800 or so kilometers it took to get up to Pai, in the province of Mae Hong Son in western Thailand. This is the area where the hill tribes from Myanmar (Burma) have traditionally lived, and used to make their living growing opium. Now they are not allowed to do that, but farm other crops and sell beautiful handicrafts. Pai is a little hippie town, with some western influence, and we totally enjoyed our days there taking in all the lush green-ness and blue skies, fresh air, and delicious food. Zipping around on the motorcycles here was a lot more fun (and easier) than when we do it in Bangkok!
