Last year four of us did the first half of the Long Trail, starting at the southern terminus and working our way north to Middlebury Gap as the rough half-way point. This year I will be (hopefully) finishing the trail by starting at the northern terminus (the Canadian border) and working my way south towards Middlebury Gap.
I will be joined by my good friend @loon (whom I met while thru-hiking the AT in 2014) and a friend of his, both of whom are from Japan. @loon will continue on beyond Middlebury Gap, attempting to complete the entire trail in one go.

@loon and Tomo striking off across a field. Moments like this bring many memories of thru-hiking the AT, and the diversity of beauty that the trail can bring.
This is a very tolerant mama bird... we couldn't have been the first ones to snap a ton of photos of her beautiful family. Judging by the other nests nearby, this isn't the first time either. I guess humans are less risk than having a nest outside of the shelter. It renews my faith in humanity a bit :-)
