Day 20 - Fontana Dam to Russell Field Shelter
13.8 miles
Today was not an easy hike.
Lots of climbing out of the valley and then it rained.
My calf started to hurt today and got worse as the day progressed.
It was a very long day but it's a nice group of people at the shelter. The park requires hikers to sleep in the shelter if there is space, no tenting allowed unless the shelter is packed out. After the rain today we're thankful for the shelter but it's crowded in here and the floor is so dirty, hard to keep your gear clean.
Met a hiker named Gandolf while we were cooking supper and we shared our repair floss so he could fix his pack. The kids talked his ear off about role playing games.
