Making our way up Bromley Mountain. Thankfully the trail follows a green run.

After a night in the hotel (complete with hot tub and swimming pool), and a day of resupplying, we are back on the trail. We took of late in the day and pitched our tent 2 miles up the trail at Bromley Shelter.

The view from Prospect Rock, overlooking Manchester Center, where we will stop for the night to resupply for the next five days. We have lots of things to work through here...

• I have been slowly developing a red eczema like rash around my eyes that has been getting progressively worse. I will need to seek out some medicinal relief.
• @reneetougas has been experiencing knee and achilles pain, so we will have to find ice, rest, and some compression sleeves for her.
• All the usual stuff including showers, food, laundry, more food, and of course rest.

After miles of rock and root hopping to sidestep mud (sometimes successfully even), having a short section of road walking was a welcome change.

Post processing the end of a rainy day, snug and dry now at Stratton Pond shelter. Tomorrow we head into Manchester center for our first resupply.

Today is wet and rainy, but thankfully not pouring. Vermont is known for its sometimes muddy conditions and this is our first taste. Despite the wetness and less than ideal trail conditions, it is very beautiful. It isn’t cold and the rain has made the colours “pop” in high contrast.

By the end of the day there were eight of us in the shelter riding out the cold and rainy weather. Thankfully nobody else showed up, as there was no more room. We were cozy and made some new friends, including Sarah (and her dog Hope) and Quiet Storm (whom we actually met on our first night), Hoba, and Pepe.

We arrived at Story Spring shelter just moments before the rain started to pour down in earnest. We couldn’t have planned it better, and now we have a dry place to hunker down and ride out the storm.
