@toesalad is hiking in Altra Superior 2.0 which he loves for their wide toe box and zero drop. And as he says, "these shoes have achieved that sweet spot between ground feel and rock protection"

I'm hiking in New Balance Minimus, my all-time favorite running, walking, hiking and backpacking (all-purpose activity) shoe.

By 7:30 we were in bed for the night at Wallface Lean-To.

Eating supper at the water makes sure our camp gear and sleeping area, at Wallface Lean-To, doesn't smell like food (and attract bear and vermin). And it's also a more pleasant and light filled place to eat (and clean-up) than the dark wood shelter. Not to mention, you don't have to haul any water, for cooking or washing, you just scoop from the brook.

Most of Indian Pass is through the woods but the trail opened up for a stunning view of the Wallface cliffs, which on this rainy day was partially shrouded in low clouds and mist. Magical.

I will admit I am more captivated by the tiny beadlets of moisture on these spruce boughs than I am by the rocky face in the background, though I love the fall colors

Day 1 Starting our hike at the Adirondack Loj at Heart Lake. Cloudy skies but the rain seems to be stopping. @toesalad and I are as happy as we look to be out in the woods together again.
