The morning of our third day was chilly. In anticipation of rain starting early afternoon, we decided to head out early in an effort to make it to another shelter 10 miles away.

Late afternoon on the second day of our hike at Goddard shelter. There was room and the shelter was clean so we decided to sleep in the shelter instead of setting up tents. Unfortunately for me, the field repairs of my sleeping mat did not find all the leaks and I had to blow it up on an hourly basis.

After 14 miles we arrive at Goddard shelter. Was a great day of hiking. Overcast, chill in the air kind of day.

Almost to Goddard Shelter - great inspiration to push on seeing the message left by @hammerhead (45 indicating our anniversary years as of Oct!) who had pushed on ahead with @toesalad. I’m married to such a romantic xo

Cutline breaktime.

Most of the trail so far has been a (very pretty) green tunnel. Occasionally the trail emerges into a cutline where views can be glimpsed amongst the power lines.
