The first crossing of many beautiful streams with @renee @hammerhead

So happy @renee and @toesalad are hiking with us - our packs are loaded and we are thankful for a warm clear day to set off on day 1- destination Congdon Shelter- 11.4 miles down (up!) the trail. Start time 11:30.

A year after @hammerhead and I suggested we do The Long Hike in September 2018 we are here! Parked our vehicle and started on Broad Creek Trail at Mass./Vermont border.

A shoreline hike with @hammerhead- Green Bay beach (canteen) to Broad Cove beach and up to the local Coffee Gallery for cold water and snack. Lovely day- dune walking swishing through grass and beach peas.

Some ocean long-views. This beach-to-beach hike was about 13K. I carried the pack, to help with training for Vermont long hike coming up this week - no elevation today :(

The stark contrasts of white and blue - beauty of this shoreline from Green Bay Beach to Broad Cove Beach. This file http://sshikers.weebly.com/uploads/1/1/2/6/11265208/broad_cove_hike_map.pdf is the most current map I could find of this linear trail. We wanted to hike over 12K, added on some distance at each end and hiked both ways of the trail.

About 2Km left to go - view of Blomidon and the Bay of Fundy beckoning us forward!

Out of the trees @hammerhead checking out the view - stopped by this pond for lunch. Surprisingly, bugs weren't an issue: glad we got on the trail early (9-ish) as temperature heated up as the day progressed.
