The kitchen counter

Good thing we brought the kitchen sink for holding snow. @toesalad is already in his booties. Time to start melting snow for water.

Not exactly roughing it! Our “hut” is a brand new cabin with wood burning stove, electric heater (!) and camp beds. Very comfortable accommodations. The park made sure to warn us about the lack of amenities at this site: no lights or running water or cooking pots etc.

This is the most deluxe “lack of amenities” we’ve ever had!

The fire was already going when we arrived. Sautauriski refuge is a warming hut during the day for park users.

Taking the snowshoe trail through the hors piste ski terrain en route to our cabin.

I overpacked. Didn’t need so much day time food.

Smart water bottles are for holding “dirty” water. We find they are the perfect bottles for squeezing with sawyer filter.

MSR reactor stove and pot system. Stove nests in pot with fuel canister, kitchen towel and cooking spoon.

Red MSR Dromedary water bladder. Will use if we can scoop water from river (we couldn’t, too dangerous)

Blue Sea to Summit “Kitchen Sink” - will use for holding and melting snow for water if we can’t scoop from river. This is what we used.

Damien took pot and stove kit and I carried everything else.

Personal & sleep stuff

Sleeping bag, pillow and case. Mats at shelter

Water bladder and tube

Hand warmers for phone (didn’t work so well, toe warmers with adhesive might work better), camera and lens, titanium bowl/mug with cozy, spork and titanium mug with sleeve, gear bag with journal, pen, battery charger, charge cord (not shown), earbuds and cord (mostly in case we share shelter with a snorer, we didn’t - had shelter to ourselves), phone case attaches to backpack, toiletries and face cloth.
